Winter Sweets in Mainpuri — Gajak, Gajar ka Halwa & Moong Dal Halwa

Winter in Mainpuri rewrites the sweet counter. Chhena sweets step back, and sesame, jaggery, carrots and desi ghee take over from late November through February.
Gajak and til patti
Roasted sesame set in jaggery, rolled thin and cut into brittle sheets. Gajak is the district's true winter snack — light, warming and made in small batches so it stays crisp.
Gajar ka halwa
Red winter carrots, full-fat milk reduced slowly, and desi ghee. Ours is cooked in batches through the day so it reaches you hot, not reheated from morning.
Moong dal halwa
The most labour-intensive halwa in the kitchen — soaked moong dal ground and roasted in ghee for over an hour. It is the sweet Mainpuri families order for cold-weather gatherings and havan days.
Gond and dry fruit ladoo
Edible gum, ghee, wheat flour and nuts. Traditionally eaten for warmth and strength through winter, one a day with morning milk.
Ordering in season
Winter items are made to demand. For gatherings in Mainpuri 205001, place halwa orders a day ahead so it is finished fresh rather than held.
